Parkhurst NuVision Lands Top Resident Candidate Dr. Lily Arendt
Parkhurst NuVision, an ocular disease and refractive/ocular surgery residency site in San Antonio, Texas, has matched with Lily Arendt. “We couldn’t be happier to bring another all-star onto the team,” says residency director Dr. Bobby Saenz. “The professors at the Houston College of Optometry consistently said she was the top graduating student in her class and was the President of the Student Texas Optometric Association. We are excited to see the impact that she will make in the San Antonio community.”
Parkhurst NuVision is widely known as the go-to place in Texas for vision correction such as LASIK, SMILE, ICLs, and Laser Refractive Cataract Surgery. Lily was able to see the impact that surgical vision correction provides to patients and said, “I am excited to change lives by helping patients with and without ocular disease achieve their best vision!”
Dr. Arendt is a native of Green Bay, Wisconsin and completed a Bachelor of Science in Biology from DePaul University in Chicago, Illinois before moving to Houston to pursue her dream of becoming an optometrist. She is currently a fourth-year student at the University of Houston College of Optometry where she will graduate summa cum laude as a Doctor of Optometry this spring. Alongside her studies and clinical care, she was selected to be a clinical Teaching Assistant for three consecutive years, which she valued greatly as it reinforced her love of teaching. Her clinical externships included Community Eye Clinic in Fort Worth, Texas, where she became proficient in managing a wide variety of ocular disease within an underserved community, and Plaza Vision Center in Dallas, Texas, where she was trained in the treatment and management of keratoconus and other corneal diseases.
This marks the second year in a row that Parkhurst NuVision has landed their top residency candidate. Last year over 15 applicants applied to residency—which currently has one spot per year—and Dr. Alelujah Ramirez was selected for the residency.
