Parkhurst NuVision’s Excellence in Patient Care Award

We are honored to be able to provide an award to such great and dedicated graduates. This year, the winner was Dr. Ashley Olivarez, OD. We enjoyed having Dr. Olivarez in clinic during one of her final rotations as a UIW Rosenberg School of Optometry student. Dr. Olivarez is now headed to work with Dr. Thao Thach, MD, an opthalmologist in Garland, TX.  

“I have always been interested in working with an ophthalmologist and after my rotation through Parkhurst-Nuvision I was even more driven and encouraged to ultimately work with an M.D. when I graduated. Dr. Parkhurst was a pleasure to work with, he is a mentor and he is passionate about helping students succeed. I’m so honored to have received this award. The scholarship will help me relocate to Garland, Texas where I will begin my new career as an optometrist, working with ophthalmologist Dr. Thao Thach M.D. in her private practice. Then I fell in love with the peri-op world, discovering that I could help my patient’s quality of life with more than just prescribing contacts and glasses.
