Meet Dr. Darcy Seaton San Antonio Optometrist

After practicing for 10 years in Houston, Dr. Seaton is happy to be back closer to family in San Antonio at Parkhurst NuVision. Dr. Seaton has been very involved in training students, residents, and doctors on the management of cataract surgery patients since completing her residency. Her experience, where she was working in a practice that primarily saw patients that needed a second opinion or a surgical consultation, has made her one of the best teachers at Parkhurst NuVision.

Dr. Seaton is one of the most experienced doctors on our team and loves to help cataract patients pick the solution that will benefit them for the rest of their lives.

The Evolution of the Cataract Evaluation

When I first started doing cataract evaluations the lenses that we had were great. However, if someone had astigmatism and also wanted to see at distance and up close, we really didn’t have a great option for them. That all changed once we a laser got approved for cataract surgery. Now we have the ability to correct astigmatism at the time of cataract surgery and the lenses we use for cataract surgery got even better.

Now with laser approved and trifocal lenses approved, we have the ability to correct astigmatism and have a patient wake up and see at distance, intermediate, and up close. We even have the Light Adjustable Lens for patients, which allows patients to customize their vision after their cataract surgery. The technology we were waiting for over ten years ago is here. I recommend a thorough eye consultation so you can figure out which solution would be best for you.

Education & Experience

Dr. Darcy Seaton graduated Summa Cum Laude from Sam Houston State University in 2007 with degrees in Biology and Psychology. She received her Doctorate of Optometry from the University of Houston, also graduating Summa Cum Laude.

After graduation, Dr. Seaton completed her residency in ocular disease at the Eye Center of Texas in Houston, Texas and became a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry. She previously worked at Eye Center of Texas from 2012 to 2021, specializing in ocular disease and surgery. Dr. Seaton joined Parkhurst NuVision in September 2021.
